Remember your Oath

Dear (Democratic) Legislators, Remember you took an Oath of Office publicly to uphold the Constitution in January, and that Oath means you fully agreed to what it meant. Beyond the courtroom, oaths of office are significant. Public officials, from state legislators to local council members, must swear an oath before assuming their duties. According to the Colorado Constitution, officials pledge to support the U.S. Constitution, the Colorado Constitution, and faithfully discharge their duties, fostering trust in governmental institutions.
I see the oath as having three important aspects. First, one swears to support and defend the Constitution against enemies. Second, one swears allegiance to the whole Constitution. Finally, one promises to do his/her job well.
So what does taking an oath mean? Why even do it?
The reason is simple — public servants are just that — servants of the people. After much debate about an Oath, the framers of The Constitution included the requirement to take an Oath of Office in the Constitution itself. The intent is to protect the public from a government that might fall victim to political whims and to provide a North Star — the Constitution — as a source of direction.
Violation of your Oath of Office is considered PERJURY, a CLASS 4 FELONY OFFENSE.
In Colorado, the repercussions for making a false oath are significant, reflecting the state’s commitment to preserving the integrity of its legal and official processes. Under the Colorado Revised Statutes, perjury is defined as making a false statement under oath in any official proceeding, knowing it to be untrue. This offense is classified as a class 4 felony, with potential penalties including imprisonment and fines. Such consequences demonstrate the seriousness with which the state treats false declarations.
The impact of a false oath extends beyond immediate legal penalties. For those in public office or positions of trust, a conviction can lead to professional and personal repercussions, including loss of employment and damage to reputation. This broader scope of consequences serves as a deterrent, emphasizing the importance of truthfulness in all sworn statements.
So, I just want to remind you that if you Vote to pass SB25-003 or ANY OTHER LEGISLATION THAT VIOLATES THE CONSTITUTION you will face the results affecting your future as a state legislator for Colorado. If you believe SB25-003 will stop gun violence in Colorado, you’ve been deceived by the emotional actions and not using reality or common sense regarding lawful firearms owners.
Why VOTE for a Bill that has an INFRINGEMENT of our 2nd Amendment Rights to purchase, acquire or use firearms in Colorado?
As a Colorado voter, I DEMAND that you publicly oppose SB25-003. Not only is this bill a historic violation of the 2nd Amendment Rights as written out, it seeks to circumvent state Constitutionally mandated spending limits by raiding funds meant for wildlife conservation to impose this tyrannical edict.
Coloradans will NOT stand for it.
